Eyeball It!® is a real studio art program for elementary and middle school-age children (7-12), available free online at www.eyeballitart4kids.org. The program is a series of discreet, month-long Projects designed for kids to do at home with a parent. It has also proven easily adaptable for use with groups of kids in after-school and summer programs, community centers, public libraries, etc. There are Lesson Plans (also free) for use in those settings available by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Eyeball It!® website is in the midst of a major redesign. A fresh new look, the same great content, set to go live later in April. Meanwhile, all will remain available on the current site.
The program’s founder/creator is artist Ellen Priest. Her jazz-based abstract paintings and her history can be viewed at www.ellenpriest.com. Beginning during her graduate work at Yale Divinity School in the 1970’s, Priest has taught studio art in schools, community arts centers and, from 2002-8, at the University of the Arts (Professional Institute for Educators) in Philadelphia.
