After graduating with a fine arts degree in illustration from the California College of the Arts in Oakland California Kim worked as a graphic designer for 11 years. She left the design field to pursue a career as a full-time painter. Today she paints in the studio as well as en plein air (painting outdoors).

Art Critiques: Critique - $50. You may submit 3 paintings for Kim's review. She will examine each piece and tell you what is working in your paintings. Then she will offer suggestions to help make each painting stronger.

Lesson Details & Fees: Each weekly class is different with a unique painting lesson or a specific painting exercise that will help you build a foundation of skills. Topics include: color mixing, creating shape using value, composition, focal point, color harmony, paint application, brushwork, selecting a subject, finding your own voice as a painter and more.

Class size is limited so that I can give each student individual attention. Each week we will work either from a photograph or from life. In class I teach an Impressionist style of painting, working wet into wet paint (if you are looking to learn how to paint photorealistically or to learn glazing techniques then this is not the class for you).
