Kruger de Klerk
I grew up in Pretoria, South Africa and moved to the USA when I was 11 years old. Moving to the US, in more ways than one, shaped the way I view the world. It was this transition period, that sparked my fascination with capturing moments in time, memories, and feelings of nostalgia.
For me, photography started at a young age when my parents would allow me to take snapshots of our family vacations with their 35 mm film camera. Over the years, I've had several of my own cameras - each time progressing to a nicer and more advanced version. When I graduated from Clemson University in 2012, my parents gave me a Canon 7D as a graduation gift, and from that day forward, I have spent any possible free time experimenting with and crafting my photography skills.
In July of 2016, I quit my job to pursue photography as a profession. I made the decision to fully commit to my passion.
Today, I am still adjusting to life as a professional photographer. It will take a while to get used to living without a dependable salary but, for now, this is exactly what I want. I have the time to focus on improving my skills, explore the business side of photography, manage my own schedule, and I finally have the potential to turn my hobby into my own business. My ultimate goal is to not only showcase the awe-inspiring sights of our world, but to also share with others the pure joy that photography brings me.
