Foundries pour hot metal into molds when casting sculptures, but cold casting is a process you can easily do yourself, in less time and for less money. One popular method uses polyurethane resin; simply mix parts A & B together and pour into your rubber mold, which you can also make yourself. If you add metal powder to the resin, you’ll get a bronze, copper, brass or aluminum piece. Other creative options: add color dyes or finely ground material, such as marble, or leave it clear for glass-like clarity. Versatility at your fingertips!
